HUITZILOPOCHTLI
Huitzilopochtli. Cf. aussi Huitzilopoch.
*\HUITZILOPOCHTLI nom divin, dieu tribal des Mexicains qu'il conduit d'Aztlân à Tenôchtitlan, puis à la domination de ce qui deviendra le Mexique.
C'est un dieu de la guerre, patron des jeunes guerriers, assurant la capture des prisonniers et leurs sacrifices, il permet ainsi de nourrir le Soleil, tônatiuh, donc d'assurer la vie du monde.
Mais c'est un dieu particulièrement inquiétant, c'est le sorcier, le démon, " tlâcatecolôtl ", le dieu des mauvais présages, " tetzauhtêôtl ", il est lui-même de mauvais augure, " tetzahuitl ".
